Hanningfield Reservoir is a near 900-acre reservoir located close to Billericay. Run in conjunction with the Essex Wildlife trust, Hanningfield is renowned for its extremely diverse flora and fauna, with the area protected under a Bird Sanctuary order. The woodland areas around the reservoir are home to some of the region’s most diverse wildflowers.
Thorndon Country Park is a massive woodland area close to Billericay featuring trails and a petting zoo. Popular with families, the park has a visitor centre and cafe that attract visitors from around Essex and further afield.
